OUTBREAK

Dan Clowes

my 6th favorite draftsmen

The problem with a lot of “indie” comics is that they’re boring. They’re boring and their creators aren’t actually smarter than anyone else. Not Dan Clowes. A master of magical realism, Clowes’   manages distinctly immersive settings and plot lines that never disappoint. His drawings are simultaneously soft and stony. His creations are often repulsive but always worth sympathy. His climaxes are in many ways  small but usually jarring. Dan Clowes is a sea of contradictions- immediately distinct yet still possessing a measure of range.
